1998 Mazda 626 LX review from North America
"Lightweight unreliable mode of transportation"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The first problem was the vibration throughout the car during stops while in gear. While accelerating slipping of transmission.
First transmission failed at 75000 miles, the second failed at 138000, the third failed (according to the new owner) at 148000. Two Mazda dealerships indicated that the transmissions were a very big problem (pretty bad when the dealers admit to a problem like this).
Valves have been clicking since early on.
Transmission slipping CV joints had to be replaced 4 times. Planetary gears were worn and Main chain and sprocket had to be replaced. Radio stopped working. Brakes had to be replaced almost yearly. The car would not stay aligned.
General comments?
Mazda has a serious problem with this transmission.
