1997 Audi A4 Avant SE review from UK and Ireland

Issues with the front suspension creaking and squeaking after one month of ownership. So I decided to take the car to the main dealer as I had read on this website that many other owners had encountered the same problem and I wanted to have the work guaranteed if the problem reoccurred. After less than six months, the suspension is now creaking again. To have the parts replaced cost be over £600 as I was told that they are made from alloy. The dealer has examined the suspension again and claims that there is not a problem!

There is excessive noise from the drivers door when driving at speeds of around 70MPH.

Can be thirsty when driving around town, but is very economical on a long run doing motorway driving.

Car failed to start on one occasion and had to be towed to the garage. The rescue organization managed to start it, but the car was misfiring and there was a strong burning smell. No fault was found at the garage, the engine management system was reset and there has been no problem since.

Despite the list of bad points, I really enjoy driving the car.

Engine is very quiet and smooth and makes the journey relaxing.

Car cruises and overtakes effortlessly especially on motorways and the interior lighting glows red at night which looks good!
