1994 Pontiac Firebird Coupe Targa review from Switzerland
"Outstanding style and quality at affordable price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator blew at 55'000 miles (fixing costs: ~ $ 450.--)
Breaks: first had to get rear brake pads replaced at 43'000 miles ($ 190.--), then the front brakes gave up at 52'000 miles, had to replace both, disks and pads ($ 700.--)
Left headlight motor is now about to break (rattling noise when headlight closes), but can fix that for free myself by inverting the headlight motor gear.
General comments?
After 38'000 miles driven within 1 and a half year, I rate it as one of the most reliable cars I've ever had (had
28 cars in 20 years so far).
Comfortable, with a bold and exceptional look. Great daily driver. Relatively low on consumption, at least speaking about my 3.4 L V6 motor.
Great suspension and handling.
Quite spacy cabin for a coupe. Look for the Targa version if you find one,
looks spectacular in spring and summer with the glas roofs removed, ads even more pleasure to the drive, and you can't tell the difference to a real roof in winter, with the glas roofs on.
