2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS 4x4 review from North America
"Do yourself a favor and look at the foreign competition before buying anything."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Air conditioner stopped working at approximately 2,000 miles (fixed by dealer).
Left tail light came loose somehow and had to be screwed back in at 6,000 miles.
General comments?
The interior of the TrailBlazer is so-so. The layout of the dash appears logical and the front dual climate controls and rear heating and air conditioning controls/vents are very convenient. However, the rear cup holders are worthless because they cannot hold even a can of soda in place without it coming out and spilling all over the carpet when going over speed bumps or making a turn. The rear seats have very little leg room in my opinion for an SUV of this size.
We pull a pop-up camper with this SUV and it's performance is much better than our previous 1998 and 2000 Chevy Venture's. The 275HP definitely comes in handy.
We have owned many Chevy's in the past and this will definitely be the last. The air conditioner went out at and I have heard from many other people that the cylinders in the engine can crack causing the engine to fail. Some have failed at 4,000 miles and others at 18,000 miles. Definitely not acceptable for a $31,000 SUV.
Avoid this SUV at all costs. I sincerely wish we had waited and spent the extra money for a Volkswagen Touareg or at least a Toyota 4Runner.
