1992 Nissan Stanza XE review from North America
"A dependable bargain if you can get a low mileage one that was taken care of"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This is the most reliable car ever I've ever owned and probably ever built by Nissan.
Things gone wrong are due to fair wear and tear and not an indication of build quality.
Torn CV boots-replaced 2x over the past 14 years.
Leaky Fuel injectors at 100k-new rebuilt ones for 100 bucks at www.suncarb.com work great
New tires every 40-50k miles (darn car is driven so much)
Alternator failed me 3 months ago, but wasn't really bad-stuck brushes that had stuck due to a little carbon buildup on 'em. A simple tap to the alternator fixed this problem after I took it apart.
General comments?
Engine is bulletproof. It burns NO oil and is a daily driver. I recently took the car on a 2000 mile roundtrip to Arizona and it ran flawlessly at 100 mph (3500 rpm in overdrive with auto) for several hours while passing thru New Mexico.
Regular maintenance is important and will reward you with many years of use. However, neglect it and you will pay the price-as with any vehicle.
The car is VANILLA and not very exciting. With that said, it is a dependable daily driver and does what it is supposed to do well: get me going where I need to do with no worries.
