1995 Volkswagen Cabrio review from North America
"An easy-to-drive but troublesome convertible"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
After a few months of purchasing this car there was a small rip in the convertible roof near the window and continues to spread until now the entire top connection between the window and roof is ripped.
The locking system doesn't work, when I lock the doors there is a noise in the trunk that grinds and grinds but never locks the doors.
90 percent of the time the key won't turn the first try when starting the car, many times it will take 5 to 10 minutes of "toying" with the key in order to get it to turn.
The trunk opening latch broke one day while opening it.
Display.
General comments?
The car is rather fast and handles pretty good. I really enjoy driving it, but there are so many things wrong with it. I have started just leaving the key in the ignition instead of having to sit around and trying to get the key to turn.
Trying to get it serviced is a real pain and it is very expensive when finding someone who will work on it. Its not worth getting fixed I'm just going to try and sell it and get something more reliable.
