1991 Nissan 200SX review from UK and Ireland
"Anonymous, Amazing - Animal"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing.
General comments?
This is an amazing piece of kit.
OK, it's not as quick as a Sierra Cosworth but, if your life depended on it, you'd make a Cossy driver look twice in the rear-view AND you don't look a idiot driving a 200.
The car really does shift (same insurance group as an Imprezza Turbo) but you're not paying Imprezza money or daft Cossy money, for that matter.
Quite subtle, yet pleasing to view without being 'loud' (ie Calibra, MR2).
Upsets 2.5 V6 company car drivers (though no-one will either believe you or admit it) - especially when they decide to do the stupid 'the carriageway is about to be reduced by one lane so I'll do everybody on the outside' driving heroics - and you and your trusy 200 are sat at the 'point of no return' having left a safety gap in front of you that Kamikaze man will try and fill using his key weapon of 'loony speed'.
Acceleration is phenomenal as is the all important braking.
Great round corners but, and you've heard this before, be VERY choice with your right foot in the wet - it WILL give you an all-expenses-not-paid trip into the nearest roadside immoveable object.
Forget the registration letter, buy the best you can afford (condition and history will mean all here) and you will be happy you did. Would you rather have a main dealer dog with a newer plate or a privately owned masterpiece? Remember, the neighbours won't know what it is anyway!
BAD POINTS: Well, very few actually. Yes, it has no room in the back. Yes, the insurance is a bit tasty and Yes, it has the wrong badge (but so what!)
Overall, if you buy the right 200 you will be very, very happy. When you drive along you will look at other 200 drivers and you will both have the 'people don't know what they're missing' look. Ahhh...
