"My 2001 3.8L Pontiac Firebird is a big disappointment"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
In 4 months I have had several problems with this vehicle. There is an intermittent door lock problem which I have tried to have fixed 4 different times and neither dealer can determine the problem. I have also had to replace the brakes, have the backup light replaced due to moisture getting inside, and recently the car has developed a very strange shrill noise when first started on cold mornings.
General comments?
I have always dreamed of owning a firebird. My first and second cars were both Camaro's, but I've always loved the look of the Firebird more than anything else.
Recently I decided it was time to part with my '95 Camaro since it was almost ready to turn 200,000 miles.
I knew I would be in major trouble if I bought a V8, so I set out in search of a nice V6 Firebird. I found this 2001 that really caught my eye. It was very stylish and sleek... I decided I had to have it.
Unfortunately since my purchase I've decided this car is all show and no go!!! It seems like my 3.4L V6 Camaro had more power than this 3.8L!!!
Overall I'm dissatisfied with the quality and dependability of this car. Everyday I get in the car and wonder what kind of new noise is going to develop. Now that my warranty has expiered I'm very concerned of the costly repairs that might be getting ready to happen!
If you're looking for a sports car I would definitely recommend the Chevrolet Camaro over the Pontiac Firebird.
Firebird has more style, but the Camaro is definitely the more dependable product!!!
