1988 Volkswagen Fox GL review from North America
"What a ride!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Had to replace belts, door latch on both rear doors, repainted 2x (thank goodness for tremclad spray-paint!), repacked rear bearings, shocks and struts needed a refit at 200,000.
General comments?
Ah, yes, my little Fox - $500 as a present to myself on my 21st Birthday (my first car). I drove her for two and a half years - across the great country of Canada four times (to and from College) without even a hiccup that delayed my travels (other than nearly running out of gas in Northern Ontario). I wish that I had never let her go - a great investment and probably would have been worth maintaining into the 300km range. Not a peak of comfort, but a good little car for a first-time-owner and a great car to just run errands in and have fun while doing it.
