2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS review from North America
"You get what you pay for.."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first purchased this car, the car had a repeated stalling problem. I had to go to the dealer about 4 times, but the problem was finally corrected.
Battery needed to be replaced after about 2-3 years.
Power steering problem at ~40000 miles. Problem was caused by rubbing against the column, which caused loss of power steering fluid and a very loud noise.
Periodic problems with the car starting up properly.
Recently, the car has begun to vibrate when idling at low speeds. Last time, the problem cost $300 and was corrected. The problem has since reappeared.
General comments?
A nice ride, solid sounding, quiet interior, good power.
Unfortunately, the car also handles like a boat.
Very comfortable inside. Interior is well designed.
Warranty is nice, but it would also be nice to not need to use it quite so often.
It's recently gotten to the point where something happens to it about every 6 months. It's been a real hassle because you never know when it's going to act up next.
