1993 Chevrolet Lumina Euro review from North America
"Great bang for the buck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Since I have owned the car not too many things have went wrong. The first thing to go on me was the battery which is normal for a used car. After that the alternator burned out and cost me a under $200 to get fix.
The most expensive thing that I had to replace was the rear spring. If you go into many spring and suspension shops they have a list of GM vehicles that have a pricey spring repair and the Lumina is on that list. There are rubber parts that hold the spring in place and over the years they naturally will wear out. If you get these parts checked and replaced you will save yourself a lot of money. My spring went and then my left rear strut went. It cost me about $1200 to get fixed.
Also my ABS light stayed on after having the strut repaired, went back to the mechanic and he checked it out and said it was the sensor. Had the sensor changed and he said it wasn't the sensor and was probably the computer.
Other than that this has been a very dependable car. Right now when I drive the steering wheel starts to rumble at about 50. I think it might be the tire pressure or I might need new tires.
General comments?
For the most part this car is a work horse. Dependable in the cold and the AC is ice cold in the summer. Lots of trunk space and the paint has not chipped or rusted. Matter of fact after I wash it the car looks brand new.
