1994 Renault Laguna rt review from UK and Ireland
"A great family car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Immobilizer stuck on.
General comments?
Having read through lots of peoples problems with laguna's I thought it only fair to share my latest problem and how we fixed it.
The immobilizer was stuck on the car intermittently, we took the car or rather towed it to several auto eletricians who couldn't get to the bottom of it. Eventually we came across a mobile auto electrician who used to work for Renault, he found the problem straight away.
On the end of the wiper arm is the button used to send info to the computer and I had months before pressed it thinking it was the windscreen washer button (i forgot to pull the arm towards me!!!) anyway it got stuck in and this was the cause of the immobilizer problem. It was intermittent because the button sometimes came out other times stayed in.
The auto electrician cut the wire in the c.p.u that gets the signal from this button and I have had no further problems.
