2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS review from North America
"An expensive vehicle which has many problems that you have to spend even more money on"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At 14,000 both seat recliner levers fell off. Only used a few times.
Had both replaced and they fell off again at 40,000.
Brake lights went out. Never notified of recall. Car behind me told me I had no brake lights. Found out about recall after I took it to Chevy garage to be fixed.
Gas pedal got hard to accelerate, had to replace at 40,000.
Had rear hatch lock replaced at 14,000.
Rear hatch lock went again at 50,000.
Both front wheel bearings went at 43,000.
ABS sensor went at 40,000.
Right rear caliper locked up at 50,000.
Replaced full brake system at 54,000.
All door hinges started rusting out and making a clunking noise when opening or closing. Chevy garage replaced them at 12,000. Still doing it at 64,000.
Luggage rack paint peeling at 5,000.
Tiny dots of rust all over vehicle at 3,000. Was told by dealer it is caused from metallic brake pads.
Had to replace oil lines. Defective at 14,000.
Emergency brake partially on at all times without being put on.
General comments?
We bought this vehicle brand new so we wouldn't have someone else's troubles. We paid over $30,000.00 for it and started having to put even more money into it for repairs after the warranty ran out.
It was very uncomfortable to ride in for an extended period of time.
I made sure I had the proper maintenance done on it and I still had to spend a lot of money in major repairs to it.
I am wondering why when there were recalls on it, why wasn't I notified of them by Chevrolet?
I have always had Chevrolet's and never had any major problems with them with the exception of the purchase of a 1998 Blazer and a 2000 Blazer.
I will say that the one thing it did well in was that a car in the opposite lane came over into our lane and struck the drivers side and the side doors held up strongly with little damage to them and protected myself and my kids pretty well, but then rolled over and struck a telephone pole which caved the roof in.
