1996 Ford Ranger XLT review from North America
"Not perfect, but a great great truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
"Coil Package" went out at about 80,000. That hurt, but that was the only major thing to the tune of $400+. A clogged fuel injector, but dealership cleaned it free (I use that STP fuel injector cleaner and never had another problem). After that a few minor things that came from driving it in Florida for 4 years and Wyoming for 3 years (a radiator and some minor heat exchange valve to the tune of $150 total).
General comments?
In spite of all of this, this is very, very reliable truck. Always starts, even at 15 below zero. Lots of power for a 2.3 liter, very comfy, quick, even the battery lasted 80,000 miles! Interior looks great, and exterior too.
I highly recommend the 96 Rangers.
PS: Not good in the snow.
