2002 Plymouth Neon review from North America
"An overpriced go cart"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had not had this car long when I had to purchase a brand new battery. The good thin about the little car is it is very cheap on gas, and it handles fairly well, plus it is easy to park, because it is so small, but the major problem with this car has been, when there is a heavy rain or it rains for a few days the trunk turns into a swimming pool, and water stands in the back floor boards. Now the car smells terrible all of the time, and there is nothing you can do about the smell. The rear brakes are constantly squeaking, which I am assuming is from all of the water. The other concern that I have is eventually this causing the car to rust. I have contacted the dealer, because I even purchased an extended warranty along with additional insurance on the car (the additional insurance on the car is in addition to what I have with an insurance agent). Anyway, the dealer says that they will fix it, but they will charge me a deductible even though it is a defect, and they say that it would probably be cheaper for me to just have it fixed rather than paying them the deductible. First of all I over payed for the car to start with, and I still owe on it, so I don't think that I should have to be paying for mistakes that they made to start with. My daughter has owned BMW's and Chevrolets, and she takes them to the dealer and they are fixed with no hassle, and then the main corporation calls to see what kind of service she received. I guess I made a big mistake when I purchased this car. I am going to go through everyone possible, maybe even an attorney if necessart to see that this gets fixed, but if they don't end up having to fix it they have saved money by doing that, but they will never sell me another car again, and I had thought about trading it in on a new Stratus, but who wants to spend even more money, and have a warranty that means nothing. In that case I would be better off with a used car and no warranty, which would cost a lot less.
General comments?
The warranties are useless on these cars.
