2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLX review from North America
"A wonderful vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My breaks went out at 13,000 miles. EPC came on at 15,000 miles. VW battery died at 29,000 mile. One problem with volkswagen no one want to service them. Then you are force to go to the dealer. The simple battery that only VW can install because the electronic devices have to be reset cost $150.00 My spouses Blazers battery cost us $50.00
Brakes cost 450.00 for pad and to turn two roaters. Unable to get VW compatible parts from anyone other than VW. Antifreeze 19.99 and that just for the bottle and I put it in my self.
General comments?
I have owned multiple volkswagens. I have found volkswagen over all to be a reliable car. Very poor on gas mileage. Interior is very nice, but so uncomfortable. Over all I feel the new jetta is not as well built as the previous models. VW has incorporated more electronic devices in turn break down more. The warranty is a joke. If you buy a VW be sure to buy a extended warranty or you will be sorry. Simple and general maintenance is unbelievable in the price. over all I am a multiple VW owner (3rd car) and will probably always be one.
