1992 Vauxhall Calibra 16V review from UK and Ireland
"Super Coupe, Sexy, Modern and Cheap to buy and run, Real head turner!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Since I purchased the car I have had to change the following:
Catalytic converter, 4 branch manifold, rear suspension bushes, 8 hydraulic lifters, bottom end bearings, oil pump, half the engine cleaned and flushed, idle valve cleaned, anti-roll bar link arm (all of the engine problems where due to the owner before not changing the oil or having it serviced)
General comments?
Do not let all the above problems put you off getting a calibra. This is by far the best vauxhall they ever produced and is a cost effective super coupe rocket! I have lowered mine 40mm all around and put 17" alloys on there and handling is brilliant. Small engine modifications make the car faster again. I have added a K&N air filter as well as a full magnex stainless system with a cat replacement pipe and now the car is pushing out around 163bhp (147 standard) team all this with a sensible kit and a spoiler like I have and the heads turn wherever you go! the car is modern and shape wise looks like it is new to the market. The calibra could easily be re-released and be as successful! all around a super car for a low price. Fast and economical. Have beaten many cars such as BMW's, Honda's, Citroen's etc. Well worth the money!
