1988 Pontiac 6000 LX review from North America
"Very reliable, decently fast, lots of room"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Fuel injectors went out 1 week after buying (there is a reason, car had been "totaled" in a t-bone accident) $150.
Brake line blew around 160,000-also had to rebuild rear brake cylinders ($300)
Water pump went out around 170,000 miles $50.
Both passenger side electric window switches died.
Paint flecked off badly.
Had to replace sway bar, used one from a Pontiac station wagon with very nice results.
General comments?
Bought car for $25.00 after some guy's insurance company declared it totalled.
Drove it for six years during high school and college, driver's side door bashed in a foot, but very reliable.
Pretty decent Delco stock stereo, good reception, pretty loud.
Took car on 3 or 4 1000+ mile trips, right up until got rid of it.
Fast enough to take on an old V6 Camaro RS... and win 3 times.
Only got rid of it when I didn't want to spend money on exhaust to make it pass emissions.
I beat on this car mercilessly, in fact I actually tried to kill it toward the end, but it wouldn't die.
