1996 Mercury Grand Marquis LS review from North America
"Mega power, style, comfort, massive trunk, bank vault solid"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I've experience only two problems since I've owned this car. One was the need to renew the AC. I replaced all the parts. I suppose this could have been avoided if I didn't use it all the time. I'm sure I had 5000 hours of AC usage.
The second problem is a reacuring issue. The Brakes! They are a never ending thorn in my side. The pads wear quickly (due to their silly, small size compared to the cars size and weight) and the rotors need turning and replacement WAY too often! It's an issue to drive anyone crazy. If it weren't for the break problems I'd give this car a perfect 10.
General comments?
This is an American luxo-cruiser to own. It's not as flashy as a Lincoln or a Caddy, but it has all the refinements of a luxury sedan. I own the LS model with a handling package (which does add quite a bit to the drivebility). Friends and family have always commented on the power and comfort. Everyone is always suprised at the mileage of the vehicle as well. It still looks quite new.
I've also been involved in a few fender benders and hit a buck, full bodied into the windscreen at 50mph!, with little or no damage. This car is FORD TOUGH.
