1981 Chevrolet Caprice sedan review from UK and Ireland
"Grunty, reliable old boat"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator gave up had to be replaced.
Bootlid support struts failed
door handle broke.
General comments?
I loved this car! in the UK it seemed like driving a tank, despite the smaller V8 option it really packed a punch when you floored it. It was capable of pushing the speedo needle right the way round...
Typically wallowy handling, but at over 2 tons on a seperate chassis with huge profile tyres you could not expect any different.
fuel consumption was not too bad for a big V8 with a 4 barrel carb, 25mpg on a run, but you had to nurse it to get that figure, average more like 15-18
