1987 Subaru GL review from North America
"One tough, efficient, comfortable car!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing really has gone "wrong". So far, all I've had to do is replace one of the exhaust pipes. It burns a bit of oil so I need to check it regularly.
General comments?
I bought this car to get me by for a year or so, since it was a good deal. I knew nothing about these Subaru's. I thought that with its high miles, it wouldn't last too long. Was I ever wrong!! This car just doesn't quit!
It is amazing off road and towing. I moved an ancient 70's 20' long trailer up a long muddy hill with this car and it had no trouble. I then got a 2 wheel drive truck stuck in this mud and used my car to pull it out!!
I'm getting ready to drive across Canada with it and really hope that this car makes it over 300,000 miles since I have grown so attached to it. Too bad they don't make these anymore!!
Oh, have to mention the turning ability of this car. It can turn on a dime and is great for maneuvering in tight spaces.
I also love the open feeling of the interior. Compared to my Honda Civic, it is much more open and airy feeling and it feels like you sit much higher and have more visibility.
