1995 Renault Laguna RXE review from UK and Ireland

Its not been too bad, it's in week 5, and the MOT is due.. Failed.

OK where to start:

ABS failure, (£30 for Renault to look at it) one old tooth brush later fixed.

Lower ball joint and rack gator.

Heater matrix and cooling system, (I got to it first and flushed it for over one hour before it started to run clear) this is a common problem and not easy to remove pipes to fix.

Rear exhaust box knocking (crow barred it over)

Knocking form the front wheels, as you may read, a dull noise when going over bumps, is failure of both front stump bearings (top of shockers)

Really poor MPG (30 mpg on motorway) I have never seen a car of this class be so bad. town driving which is about 26MPG so there is something wrong some where.

Major service £270 + £270 for cam belt and alt belt. LOL is all I can say!

new clutch fitted 66000 miles and new rear break caliper and discs

The car is nice, but having read this and seen the cost of servicing, with a MAJOR service excluding the cam belt a essential part of the service!

Every thing works and running gear needed a good clear up, the slaving break unit (splits breaks to rear wheels) had started gathering rust.

Rust also under sill, but I think that may be from poor jacking.

CV joint not put together by MR Clutch so that all fell apart. Rust also on the front sub-frame (not much to worry about just yet)

All electrics work and interior of the car is like new, the back seat catches are not the beat of design (lower part black clips)
