2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo review from North America
"Piece of junk"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My brakes were shaking at 14,000 miles.
The dealer said it was out of warranty and I would have to pay. I called and complained, and after talking to the manager, I found out that Chrysler has extended the warranty on brakes to 15,000 miles because of all the problems they've had. The replaced the front brakes, rotors, and calipers. After about 20,000 miles, the transmission would stick in either first or third gear occasionally. I would either be driving 40 miles per hour red lined, or I would go from zero to sixty in about an hour. I took it to the dealer twice and they said it was fine. Finally, the engine light came on and I took it in and they replaced half the transmission. Now, at 35,800 miles, the entire vehicle shakes and the engine light is flashing. I have to have it towed to the dealer because they said I couldn't drive it. My lease is up in four months and I couldn't be happier. I will NEVER buy another Chrysler product again. Let them go out of business, I don't care. I had an Explorer that I put 106,000 miles on with no problems other than normal wear and tear. My next purchase will be a Ford.
General comments?
This is an inferior vehicle. I only leased it because it was cheap, but I won't make that mistake again.
