2000 Mercury Mystique LS review from North America
"A drivers car all the way!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Had the defroster vent pop-up several times. Replaced at 36,000 miles.
Leather seats worn badly.
General comments?
I just bought my 2000 Mercury Mystique LS. I bought the LS model with the Duratec 2.5L 24V V6. It has a automatic transmission which is extremely smooth. The engine has smooth acceleration and pics up rather quickly. I must say that this Mystique handle better then my friends 2002 BMW M3. The suspension is excellent and the stock tires don't slip too much taking corners around track at around 60 mph. My only complaint about the car would be the brakes. I feel they are not up to par for this level of refinement. I must say that this car is very large on the inside. I am 6'4" and I fit rather well. The leather seats are very cozy, but mine are worn badly. I have had no problems with the car except for the ones stated above. This car does take a lot of gas, but that is expected being a V6. This car is not only nimble, but is very fast. I have beat a 2004 Ford Mustang with the 2.8L V6 at the drag strip more than once. This is indeed a poor man's BMW.
