1996 Daewoo Nexia GLi 3dr hatch review from UK and Ireland
"Lots of car for you money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Picked up the car cheaply because it was in poor condition. The cam belt had broken at 80,000 miles. (According to Daewoo this should have been replaced at 60,000 miles or 5 years) The owner had not had it changed and it broke. That needed replacing.
Also the head gasket seal was developing a slight leak on it, this held for the first 8 months of owning the car then it blew.
Both faults were repaired and nothing has gone wrong since.
General comments?
Firstly you get what you pay for, so don't expect luxury.
The car is spacious enough to be comfortable.
It has perfectly adequate seats, driving position, control placement, etc.
The car is easy to maintain, the styling hasn't aged considerably and I personally think the styling is still on par with some of today's newer cars.
As a family we own two of these cars (a GLi 3 door '96 hatch and a 4 door GLXi '97 saloon) Both have been reliable, comfortable and still look good today. I would recommend these to everyone.
