1989 Dodge B2500 b250 review from North America
"a big solid truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Since I've owned the car, the starter went bad, the distributer cap went bad. Also a few freeze plugs rotted out, but that was maintenance related as it sat for more than a year.
Many maintance things such as belts and hoses have had to be replaced. Also the brake shoes.
The rubber on the ball joints has torn so it has to be lubed regularly as the grease oozes out fast... around ever 3k miles. This is the fault of the previous owner who probably took it too jiffy lube.
Right side power door lock no longer works.
General comments?
I don't drive this car a lot, about 5k a year on average so far. One of those years I drove a few hundred miles.
It has had no big problems and runs perfect, like new really. Paint looks great for a vehicle so old. Compression is still perfect.
I do most maintenance myself. I vacuumed out the transmission fluid. I have the short wheelbase model so its easy to park.
I love my Van. It gets terrible gas mileage however. around 10 mpg around town 12 on the freeway. It doesn't vary even. Loaded or empty it gets the same gas mileage. Its weird really.
