2000 Ford Escort ZX2 review from North America
"Fun to drive, love the car, hate the clunker"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Driver's idler arm failed.
Emergency brake cable failed twice.
Engine rocks, but motor mounts are fine.
CD changer skips in some slots.
General comments?
It is my third Escort and each one has been a love/hate relationship.
No rattles, no chirps, no squeaks unlike my previous two Saturns.
Quality is generally not an issue. All the toys are fun to use and drive with.
This is my second Escort where the engine seems to move and lurch or clunk making it difficult to enjoy the drive. Ford Zone said they wanted to drill out the motor mounts and try increasing the space (?)...go figure that out.
Seats are not comfortable on long trips.
