1980 Holden Commodore L review from Australia and New Zealand

"A beautiful Cruiser"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Transmission Needed reco almost straight away.

New rear half of exhaust (got torn off)

New rocker cover gasket.

Surface rust in boot.

Deep rust outside spare wheel bay.

Needed full service on purchase.

Diff end uni joint on the way out (rough gear changes)

General comments?

This car is beautiful condition. The paint is still immaculate with a few chips aside and the interior is still tip top. I have sprayed the dash, console and all other plastic/rubber areas black and clear coated them. I have trimmed the doors and roof with stiff black carpet. All the doors and floor have been heavily sound proofed as well as the fire wall. The entire under body of the car has been sprayed with sound deadener and under-body putty. The carpet was showing its age so I replaced it with black molded carpet. The boot has been fully rust protected and I bought a black carpet insert for it. I have lowered the car 4 inches at the back and 3 1/2 at the front. I put my Walkinshaw look alike rims on (along with new struts and 9 inch diff with axle/disc breaks) I had the lower half of the car black so it is 2 tone (yellow paint job). I have a 5.0L at home waiting to be dropped in. I have a pretty reasonable sound system aswell... I am running a Kenwood Head Deck with 6" Pioneer speakers in the from doors and in the parcel tray. I have a 1000w Boss and running the speakers and a V12 Alpine amp running a Rockford Fosgate 15" P1 PUNCH series sub creating powerful bass and crystal clear treble/mid-rage. All in all it was nice when I bought it and it is now a pretty hot car.. not bad for $1 and a beer.
