1989 Audi Coupe S3 review from UK and Ireland

Initially, my car needed just a good wash and polish!

I have replaced the drivers side door seal.

The exhaust system needed replacing, but I had a Powerflow Stainless Steel system made for it, as it was far cheaper than the original. Sounds nice too, but not too loud!

And alas the gearbox has just expired.

But, with such good build quality, the 'box was easy to get out, easy to repair (did it myself with an Audi 80 'box I had in my shed!).

Replaced the clutch while the 'box was out as a matter of course.

Oh and the rear wash/wipe and de-mist do not work (broken wire in top of tailgate), but as I spend more time looking forwards, not backwards, they are still broke!

As it is white, I T-Cut and polished it, and it came up lovely considering its age!

The interior is good except for one cigarette burn.

I have fitted a nice set of 17" Team Dynamics wheels, with 215/40 17 Toyo Proxes, handles like a go-kart. (pics at CarDomain.com).

I am 6'3" so the dustbin lid steering wheel had to go, have fitted a 'D' shaped one.

Is very fast, mine does 152mph (just before the rev limiter)

Beats a lot of more modern cars to 60.

And is reasonably economic. (depends how you drive it!)
