2002 Peugeot 307 LX review from UK and Ireland

"An absolute abomination - fails under the trade descriptions act of 'fit for purpose'"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Currently onto fourth Comms2000 unit in just over six months to enable the indicators to work correctly. However, car needs to be returned as steering wheel now grinds.

Two catalytic converter faults in first five months of ownership.

Carpet coming away prevents safe use of clutch and brakes.

Back door stuck shut.

Driver's window squeaking badly and sticking open or shut (depending on position when stopped working).

Stalling at ridiculous speeds.

Constants problems engaging reverse gear.

Rust.

Carpet coming away in driver's foot well (different to the carpet catching on operation of brakes and clutch).

Supplied with windscreen wipers positioned incorrectly.

Serious lack of respect and care from dealership.

Car returned to me last week with damage to side and underside.

Never an apology or full explanation from the dealer.

Dealer tries to trick customers into paying for insurance on courtesy cars (when you can get one), when it is actually written in their company policy that they do not charge insurance if your car is in for a repair under warranty.

My car has been into the garage an average of once every three weeks in the eight months I have owned it.

This list is far from exhaustive - this is just the tip of the iceberg!

General comments?

This is the BIGGEST mistake I have ever made. It is a hideous vehicle to drive and, coupled with the problems experienced, the best description I could give it is a shed on wheels - although that is defamatory to sheds!

If I had the money, I would set fire to it and buy a different car from a decent manufacturer.
