1990 Ford Taurus GL Wagon review from North America

Cooling fan stopped working around 134,000, found it was bypassed to always be on when car was running, fixed easily.

At 135,000 Changed motor mounts to stop it from bouncing every time I shifted to first, as a new mechanic, I found it fairly easy to do. The reason they all have motor mount failures is that the motor mounts are designed to break in case of accident, to prevent being crushed by engine, I didn't mind at all.

Original Transmission failed in it around 140,000, rebuilt, worked great after that.

Power Steering made whining noise since owned, replaced pump around 140,000, worked great after that.

A/C had freon leak around 145,000, never fixed, just rolled down windows, never really used it anyways.

Around 147,000 windsheld got a mysterious crack in it, I got a cheap windshield at a junkyard and had a company put it in, after that a little air leaked in when driving fast, but no water or anything, never bothered me, and not cars fault.

Firestone tired on it blew one by one, replaced them all as they blew, thanks to Firestone.

Engine ran beautiful from the day I owned, till day I sold, I routinely kept up with it, and changed oil every 3,000 miles with Valvoline Maxlife 10w30 oil. I drove it fast on highways, 85+ never gave me a problem.

My exterior was great when I got it, but over the year I had it, aquired many dents and dings, and a huge dent when someone tried stealing my system, when they never got it, trying prying my rear left door open, didn't get in

enterior was perfect, no rips, no fading, due to dark tint, everything worked, anything that broke inside was all my fault, like my cupholders, replaced at junkyard.

Cooling system functioned perfect, flushed twice, routine maintenance

Had really loud system in it, never effected cars performance once.

I loved the comfort and room, never heard a complaint from any passengers.

Always ran nice and quiet since day one.

I kicked most Honda Civic owners butt in a race, proud of my Taurus Wagon, imagine if I had the 3.8L.

When I had the transmission rebuilt, it failed because old age, it ran beautiful, never had a problem.

Overall, I loved the car, it was very good to me, got me around very dependable, even with my lead foot, I had two other cars after that, 87 Olds Calais, and 98 Ford Contour, and now the absolute only car I want, is a Ford Taurus Wagon, GO FORD!!!
