2001 Buick LeSabre Custom review from North America
"I like the vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Upper (intake) plastic plenum failure on the 3800 Series II engine.
General comments?
This seems to be a common, or at least a recurring problem. In this instance it will be $800 to replace the plenum, gasket, plugs, oil, labor and miscellaneous, and does not include any cost of further engine damage from coolant leaking into the cylinders. It should be a recall item considering it appears to happen frequently on this GM engine, and the cost should be borne by GM. I do not understand why any manufacturer would make such a component, subjected to extreme engine heat, from plastic.
