2001 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Elegance review from UK and Ireland
"Not a true quality Mercedes"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The Automatic gear box has failed after only 27,000 miles.
General comments?
The cloth seats and other trim has dirtied very quickly and does not come up with cleaning, the leather look trim is flaking. The alarm has activated without apparent cause several times.
That aside it seems quite a nice to drive and handles reasonably well.
There is an issue when reversing and looking over your shoulder, there seems to be a bit of a blind spot.
The Air con works reasonably well.
With the arm rest down accessing the seatbelt fittings and handbrake are difficult.
