1997 Nissan Altima GXE review from North America
"One tough mutha'"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The drivers side visor broke off. (Regular use)
The gear selector panel broke. (My fault)
Transmission starting to shift at higher RPM's. That started around 90,000 miles. Which is good considering how hard I drove it for the first two years. Not much of a concern though.
Had to replace both CV axles around 80,000 miles from a tear in the boot.
Airbag light came on around 80,000 miles.
General comments?
Had to get new tires and brakes around 80,000 miles.
Handles well. (Does well off-road too:)
Front-wheel drive does well in the snow.
The car gets around 20 MPG town and 32 MPG highway.
The gas take holds 13 to 13.5 gallons.
Interior is still in good condition minus the cigarette burns and soda stains.
I have not changed the oil for about 10,000 miles and it still runs very well.
Faster than a Honda Civic and handles better than a Chevrolet Corvette.
It has been rear ended, t-boned, slid sidewards into a snowbank (My fault), high-centered on a snowbank (Girlfriends fault), and the only thing wrong is a chipped bumper.
This is one tough car. Perfect for a new driver.
