1991 Ford Granada Scorpio review from UK and Ireland
"High powered, high speed bargain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Automatic gearbox failed at 58000 miles.
Replacement automatic gearbox failed at 70000.
General comments?
Luxury, high performance mile muncher.
This is the third Granada Cosworth that I have owned and I spent ages looking for one with low mileage (58000) with a full MDSH. This is also the first that I have ever had any problems with the automatic gearbox although it is apparently a well known weak point as the oil cooler can cause the fluid to overheat, leading to failure of the box.
That aside it is still one of the best bargains around. Who wants to spend 5 times as much for a german counterpart that wont be as fully loaded.
I've fitted a manual gearbox in it now, so let the fun continue.
