2002 Toyota Highlander Pkg B AWD review from North America
"An excellent family wagon"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rear wheel bearings replaced at 20K. They were squeaking.
Rear struts and strut assemblies replaced at 48k to repair a clunking over bumps. Next, upper control arms were replaced to solve the problem. After 4 trips to the dealer, the problem is fixed.
Leather seats starting to crack at 50K. Plastic interior panels behind seat belts are easily scratched.
Wind noise is horrible. You have to open all 4 windows to avoid it.
General comments?
Very smooth riding car with only a few flaws. I attribute my repairs as atypical, and would recommend this car. The "limited" version is not worth the money; one should consider an Acura MDX for this much dough.
Traction at any speed is very good. Winter (snow) is never a problem.
My '02 did not have a heated seat option. It is available in the '04 model and it is a necessity!
