2003 Dodge Durango SLT review from North America

Nothing has gone wrong so far. I have had my Durango for less than a week.

The gas mileage is poor. So far I'm only getting 13 miles per gallon. But can't say I'm surprised. You can't have a full size SUV with a V-8 engine and expect to get great gas mileage. Lots of power though!

The only other negative thing I've noticed so far is that the second row seat is rather hard to pull forward so that the third row seats can be accessed.

Very comfortable and roomy (a big step up from the Jeep Liberty).

Handles great.

Rides smooth.

Lots of power.

My original intent was to buy a new 2004 Durango SLT, but the cheapest one I found was over $32,000 and was very plain and basically equipped. Instead I found this 2003 Durango (certified used) at a local dealer for $23,900. It had 23,000 miles on it. It has leather seats and is loaded with extras and in excellent condition. So I think I got a better deal going with the certified used vehicle.

Being that I bought my Durango used, I did go ahead and purchase the extended warranty... then later wondered if it would be a waste of money and I should cancel it. After reading the reviews, however, I must say, even though I still love my Durango and don't regret purchasing it, I think the extended warranty was a good investment!

I'll give an update after I've had the Durango longer.
