1997 Kia Avella review from Korea
"Have fun with this car and give your wallet a break"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have to try twice on cold starts, but it always goes on the second try.
General comments?
You need to try out this car if your in the market for economy and reliability!
I've been driving this car for 5 months. The high point is it's reliability and that it's cheap to repair.
I busted the side mirror parking against a wall. It cost only 30$ to repair. However this is in Korea and its much cheaper here compared to North America.
The steering is rough, you need to be a confident driver. Don't be afraid of the squirrley sensation. The car's not going to role; hopefully.
I'm 6'4, but I'm still comfortable in the drivers seat. Even after long drives, I'm not cramping. Compared to the old Century this is great.
It takes a lot of time to hit 100km/h, but it gets to 50 quickly, which is all I need driving in a Korean city. I didn't get the car for performance anyway. I hardly ever see 4th gear even.
I enjoy the small size of the car it makes parking easy and getting down 1 way roads a cinch.
The stereo is the best I've ever heard for an entry-level vehicle. It's much better than the crappy Civics, and Proteges.
Look at this car or it's U.S. model the Aspire! They are great reliable, cheap to fix cars.
The previous owner is a friend of mine and spent little money on repairs over 80 000km.
I hope they did as well on the Sephia, I'd like to check that car out too.
The Korean fuel sticker on the car says it's official rating is 17km/litre. One litre of gas is about 2CDN. Ouch.
