1996 Mitsubishi RVR review from Kenya

"Nice car with good potential"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Ever since getting the car, it has never quite settled down - firstly it had amazing fuel consumption and also had an intermittent miss. My mechanics suspected the problem was somewhere in the fuel line and have since replaced almost everything from plugs and air filter to injector nozzles and some electrical sensor relating to fuel control. The car runs smoothly now

though I feel it has a 'lazy' or 'dull' sound to it compared to how it was before. All the mechanics

think its running OK though.

Fuel consumption is still quite high and the exhaust gets black and

very sooty. what mileage per liter should I expect from it (1990CC petrol). I've been told to expect 10-11km for town running. I'm doing less than 8!

The auto transmission also fails to shift up sometimes running up the engine revs quite high. When it slows down completely or stops however, it shifts OK when started up again.

Never figured out how to set the compass either!!

Does any one recognize these problems and any suggestions?

I can be reached at gerald@roofspeckenya.com. I will really appreciate it.

General comments?

Otherwise the car is quite nice and becoming very popular in Nairobi. I wish Mitsubishi had spent more time developing it.

I'm a wheelchair user and for me, the sliding door and the room at the back is sheer genius.
