2002 Volvo XC70 review from North America
"Unreliable and possibly dangerous"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Sudden and spontaneous acceleration. Occurred as I approached an intersection and applied brakes. I checked the pedals. Brakes failed to slow the car. I put the front end into a guard rail to stop. Air bags did not deploy. Fortunately no one was injured. Volvo reports they cannot find a malfunction.
General comments?
The Volvo gas pedal is not directly linked to the throttle. It is an electric switch which is fed into a computer.
This makes the car vulnerable to an electrical malfunction.
