2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LTZ review from North America
"We like the vehicle, but will get rid of it if we continue to have so many repairs."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Repaired under recall or warranty: Driver seat belt, front wiper blade motor, side trim panel, shift lock, instrument panel reprogram, both front door mirrors actuators replaced, both right doors aligned to try to eliminate excessive road noise. Too many other minor recalls to note.
Latest problem is engine would roar on start up and would not shift at low speeds. This had been an ongoing problem since 1/03 when the first fan clutch complaint was noted. Fan clutch was staying engaged so was replaced. The fan clutch replacement necessitated a required update or reprogramming on the PCM (power control module).
Not only did I have to pay for the parts and labor, I had to pay to reprogram the PCM and a diagnostic fee. Total repair cost was $663.05.
Now I am told the lower front ball joints are very bad; loose and worn. I take it in tomorrow to get an estimate of that repair.
General comments?
I have had GM cars for over forty years and have found them to be reliable and dependable. We take good care of our vehicles and keep them up to 100,000 miles or more. This is the first GM vehicle we have had that has given us so many problems. Fortunately most problems were minor.
We are retired and put lots of miles on the car. We appreciate the smooth ride and the easy handling.
The road noise is a big problem for us. The excessive road noise has been there since day one and is extremely annoying to all passengers, especially the people in the back seat. It is difficult to carry on a conversation.
