1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS review from North America
"A high performance, reliable vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Since I got the car, the only thing that has gone wrong was the Oxygen Sensor, that was causing the "Check Engine" light to come up. Which at the dealer was priced at around 200.00 Dollars. But I did a lot of research on the Internet, and found an aftermarket Oxygen Sensor for under 50.00 Dollars. I love the high quality, and performance, of aftermarket parts. Since then, I only replace my cars components with aftermarket products. Much of them are more reliable and dependable than stock parts, not speaking about comparing the prices. Other than the Oxygen Sensor, nothing has gone wrong.
These cars are recommended that the Timing Belt is changed at every 60,000 miles. I know that the other previous owner had changed it before, but my interval has now about reached its point. So I'm now thinking of changing or better yet "Upgrading" my Timing Belt. I found one that cost's about 120.00 dollars, but it is made out of Kevlar materials which is known to last up to three times more than stock belts. These Kevlar belts are first to top performance. Plus, they "stretch" less under high engine stress and high accelerations.
General comments?
I've found these cars to be very reliable, and they will take good care of you on the road, if you take good care of them as well.
The looks on these vehicles are very aggressive.
