1993 Honda Accord EX review from North America

Automatic transmission replaced about 160,000 miles.

Balancer seal replaced at 224,000 miles.

A/C recharged at 223,000 miles.

C/V joints replaced at about 180,000 miles.

Interior rattles quite a bit on bumpy roads.

Power antenna shaft replaced twice due to breakage in icy weather.

Radiator replaced about 190,000 miles.

Brake rotors seem to warp fast, about every 20,000 miles. Use Honda pads and you'll never get the squealing sound.

Awesome car for the money. I've had to put a few cents into it along the way, but I have to consider my driving habits as part of the problem... older age of the car being the rest.

The paint and interior are still in great shape, even after enduring some humid weather and salty air of the Gulf Coast. The interior has made for some great acoustics with the right stereo system installed.

The engine is flawless when its tuned right (do it yourself if you know what you're doing). Runs like a champ. I still get 25 mpg in the city, and recorded one segment of a TX to FL trip in 2000 where I notched 32 mpg... yeah, I did the math several times. It still has enough get up and go to pass people on 2 lane roads, and beat that semi-truck coming up the on-ramp.

Besides the maintenance issues, I'd definitely buy this car all over again. Maybe change the color, though. Only 74,000 miles to go until 300,000!
