1978 Toyota Corolla CS review from Australia and New Zealand
"Help - I need an extra gear!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Starter motor failed at 260,000km.
Electrics are a bit fragile - gauges read inaccurately most of the time.
Noisy at over 80km/h. Partly due to broken
muffler.
General comments?
This car is extremely reliable.
I'm tired of the 4-speed gearbox. It makes the engine rev too high. I travel 40km to work every morning, mostly at 100km/h and
although it only costs me $40/week in petrol, this could improve further if it wasn't revving at 4000 rpm at 100km/h.
I need help in finding a 5-speed manual gearbox to suit this car.
I want to keep this car for a while, so I'd like to make it less noisy/thirsty.
It drives me dotty!
