1991 Chevrolet Beretta GTZ review from North America

"Good performance at a price"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Catalytic converter fell off first week of ownership. Exhaust was brand new front cat back, but the cat had rusted through I guess.

Brakes had to be completely re-done at 220000kms due to one caliper seizing up as well as one rear drum.

Thermostat had to be replaced twice due to being stuck open.

Vacuum line had to be replaced due to a leak at 230000kms that was causing cruise control and heater vents not to work properly. Same issue caused the brake lights to also malfunction.

Lifters began ticking around 200000kms. Car still ran fine, just became noisy once engine was hot.

Clutch was replaced at 230000km mark.

General comments?

Nice, sporty car with decent room and good performance.

Design is well executed and is not 'overdone' with body cladding or other complications.

Quad 4 engine offers good performance although at a price. Early generation Quad 4's recommend premium fuel.

Interior is pleasant and functional, but does not overachieve in either of the two.

Overall, vehicle is a good overall buy with only slight drawbacks in long-term ownership.
