1990 Mercedes-Benz SL SL500 review from Australia and New Zealand
"Performance, Safe, Ultra comfortable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing.
General comments?
A very good cruiser. Amazing suspension, has the feeling of the S- Class, the suspension is really good at soaking bumps making this car feeling like a luxury sedan. However the car is capable of handling enthusiastic driving. It may not have the sharpness of some sports car, but its precision and control is amazing giving the driver lots of confidence, keep in mind this is a pretty big 2 door car and it feels quite heavy and it is a very solid car, you can feel it the momment you shut the solid vault like door.
The engine is very punchy, with the glorious V8 Note.
Overall this car feels safe, excellent handling, but most importantly an extrememly confortable car to drive especially long journey. Even after 14 years this car still catch lots of attentions.
I would recommend anyone who is looking for a convertable as a daily driving car and who is seeking comfort in a sports car to consider the mercedes SLs, it is fun, safe, practical (Boot space is pretty big, apx same size as my previous corrolla hatch back Capable of carrying 2 golf bags).
Excellent car worth every single cents it costed me $62,000 Aus to purchase.
