1993 Ford Scorpio review from Germany
"Big, comfy, tourer"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alarm system decided to set itself off for no reason last weekend.
Passenger e-window wouldn't open, but would still close.
On-board computer sometimes gives strange readings.
Cruise control doesn't work.
Windscreen heating switch didn't work.
Central locking works every time on passenger side, but only sometimes on drivers side.
Reversing light didn't work(now fixed-connector disturbed when I changed oil filter!)
General comments?
I bought it in a rush, as I'd returned from working abroad and had no transport.
I've owned it for 5 months now, and am basically happy with it, although the electrical problems are slowly driving me nuts!
It tows a trailer well, but does drink the fuel. Although on a general run it's actually not too bad at about 34mpg.
Mine hasn't got all the toys of the UK models, but has got air-con, power steering, electric windows (but manual roof), no seat heating, and cloth seats (therefore no need of the heating :->) and manual seats.
On a long run, the seats give me knee ache, due to the length of the seat pan and the angle (but then I am 6' 4") -my Sierra was much better.
Paid 1300 Euros for it, and am satisfied with it, although whether I'd buy another hatchback version I don't know, as the space is limited in comparison with an estate.
