1991 Ford Festiva GL review from North America
"Indestructable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My dad changed the clutch before I got it.
Parking lights shorted out. I rewired them.
I cracked the head and drove it that way for 3 months.
Alternator went out twice.
Used to eat wheel barrings and tires.
Rearended my dad's truck did no damage to the car, but twisted his bumper.
Hit a deer and busted the grill, headlight, hoood and fender. Only changed the light and grille.
Changed the drive axle twice (didn't need changed the first time and messed up putting it in so had to change a ring pin on it)
Backed into many things and never hurt the car. Only scratched the bumper.
General comments?
Great car. Never broke down and left me stranded. The alternator went out twice, but I just push started it myself. It wouldn't even operate the clock on the stereo, but still ran.
I crack the head and ran it on three cylinder for three months. It just used more oil than gas. I didn't bother putting coolant in it. It only overheated while sitting in traffic.
It goes great in the snow and most parts for it are cheap.
I ragged the car pretty hard and I gave it back to my dad last year and he still drives it to work. I used to take it mudding places I haven't taken my truck yet and never got stuck where I couldn't get it out with whom ever was in the car with me.
