2001 Hyundai Sonata review from North America

Battery died after I had it for 5 months.

Windows (all four) fell off track and needed new window track motors.

Airbags were recalled and have been replaced. The light still comes on constantly.

Timing and balance belts went out after 64,000 miles which seems a little soon.

Paint job is poor, peeling off side windows and doors. This happened after a few months of having it.

This car is worse than good, no wonder there is such big warranty. Beware it won't cover the major things that will happen to your car after the 60,000 mile mark. Useless.

The service department has been brutal. I'm tired of them acting like I'm a mechanic and should know better. I'm a girl, too. They are rude and condescending. They can't fix my car, or maybe they aren't trained to fix the Sonata. It broke down on me and I took it in and they said it was the timing belt and would cost me $600 to fix. Ouch! So the next day they tell me that it's going to cost $1135 now, because they have to replace the gaskets, seals, and valves. I was literally crying at this point. Then it takes them two weeks to "fix" it. I go to pick it up and they tell me it's going to be $1235. The parts were $440 and the service was $700. Then I take it home and the car dies on me that sames day. We take it back because I'm hoping that I didn't pay them $1235 to break it. We had to leave it there over a week and they fixed it again. This time it ran worse than before, jerks and shifts rough. The car stalled out again. So we take it back missed half a days work to set there so they could fix it because they accidentally gave out all the loaner cars. I was promised that there would be one available. So we leave again and it still stalls now were scheduled to take it back. I only hope they can actually fix it this time because I'm still out $1235. After four weeks this ridiculous. Don't get this car and if you have it get rid of it. Read the reviews people.
