1992 Peugeot 205 GR review from UK and Ireland
"A near-faultless small car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing of real note - have had to replace a few consumables (tyres, brake parts, and the oils and lubricants of course).
Non-start problem a few months ago was caused by poor-quality fuel from a local supermarket which will remain nameless, on fuelling up elsewhere the normal faultless service resumed.
General comments?
For a mid-range supermini this car performs more than respectably, and the ride and handling are a cut above the class norm as you might expect from Peugeot.
This car is easier to maintain than later models being one of the last carb, non-cat, manual choke models.
If you have a touch of the boy/girl-racer about you, then try the XS model which has GTI-esque looks and an interior to match, but still with the 1360cc engine, albeit in a higher state of tune (90 bhp as opposed to the GR's 75).
Peugeot build quality is higher than some might have you believe.
